Waxing Moon - Study Group

November 9th, 2-5pm...ish, at Siemen Family Farms

Event date: 11/9/2013 11:00 AM - 4:00 AM Export event

We had a great meeting! We also got a bit side tracked off the agenda - first, our presenter was not in attendance and second we had a small group. But, being the Permaculture Geniuses we are, we used the resources at hand and had a completely different discussion!

1) We decided that Patrick Farneman from Primitive Skills would be a great presenter and had a lot of connections, particularly North of Spokane, we could all benefit from. Shannon will see what we can do about bringing him in very soon. Also, there was the idea posited that the low attendance might have been due to a lack of interest in what he could have presented. If you have any thoughts to add on that front it would be helpful to know so we don't invite someone we don't all really want to hear from. ;-)

2) The Seed Swap was a success last year in connecting folks and allowing others to unload seeds they wouldn't otherwise have been able to plant. It was decided that February 22nd at the Spokane Farmer's Market was the date and place again. We also decided that some might appreciate a series of 15 minute mini-forums on seed related issues would make the experience a more complete one. So, if you have some experience - good, bad, or otherwise - and can limit yourself to 15 minutes or less to present and field questions please contact Shannon to get your name down so we can start working a schedule. Also, if you have seed wants, seed surplus, etc. we want to include you in the seed swap. Again, you'll want to contact Shannon to get those plans underway. 509-389-3666.

3) The next Permaculture Study Group will be at Siemen Family Farms on November 9th at 2pm to 5...ish and socially geared rather than "study" oriented. There wil still be an agenda but there WILL BE food. Speaking of food...bring something fun to share! I believe the Foote's mentioned they had burger and dogs???? I will be making a big pot of soup and homemade bread to go with it.

4) We formed the beginnings of a vehicle to get our nearly certified Permaculture Practitioners finished so they can start doing it for "real". With that the 26-ers (Phil's idea) was formed. If you'd like more information on that front, we'll be discussing it at the Nov 9th meeting.

5) Siemen Family Farms is located at 7501 W Enoch road, 99110. Head North on 395, 1.5 miles past Deer Park take a Left on Spotted Road, Left on Enoch, and then park in the driveway along the horse barn. If you go right on Enoch you will eventually meet our neighbors who will tell you to go back the way you came until you run into a red cinder block shop which happens to be ours. Please don't actually run into the shop - veer right and park next to the other cars who went Left when orginally told to. Of coarse, if you follow your GPS, you will end up in the neighbors field at which point we may just all have to laugh a long time at you before we help you out!

That about covers both the notes and the next meeting information! The only thing left is a HUGE apology for not getting these notes out to all of you much sooner and I truly hope the tongue in cheek has made the wait worth it and has garnered me some good will for the next time when I will do better. :-)

We're not going to be able to bring burgers and dogs but will bring a big salad. See you then.
